_{We, at CAEO Quebec, are grateful to be able to operate in Tio’tia:ke, which is stolen land that has been cared for by the people of the Kanien’kehá:ka nation for thousands of years. Part of our work is to educate about gender and sexuality and it is important for us to highlight that the marginalisation of Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer people started and continues because of colonialism; a system that negatively affects the lives of all Queer and Trans communites.

While acknowledging the land we are on is an important first step, we cannot stop at land acknowledgements. We encourage settlers to do their part to learn directly from resources produced by Indigenous groups and to contribute time, money, and other goods to local organisations providing services for the Indigenous populations living in Tio’tia:ke. The Indigenous Ally Toolkit is a good place to start for learning.}
